How much do security cameras cost per month?
Plans cluster in two shapes. Per-camera tiers run roughly $3 to $6 a month each. Whole-home tiers run roughly $10 to $15 a month for everything on the account. The crossover is around three cameras, which is why makers price it that way.
What you get for it is almost always the same list: recorded video history, person and package detection, richer notifications and the tools to search footage. What stays free is live view and, on cameras with a card slot, local recording.
The number that matters is not monthly. Five years of a $12.99 whole-home plan is $779.40, and five years of three cameras at $4.99 each is $898.20. Both are more than any single camera on this site costs, and more than the complete four-camera recorder system.
There is a second cost people forget: the plan usually has to keep being paid for old footage to remain reachable. Cancel and the history can go with it. Local storage does not behave that way, which is worth something beyond the arithmetic.
Work out your own figure on the subscription calculator. Put in what you are about to spend on hardware and what the plan costs, and look at the all-in number before you buy rather than after.
