The best security cameras for a backyard
Gardens defeat cameras three ways: no power, weak signal, and things that move.

What actually matters here
Power is the obvious constraint and the easiest to solve: battery with a solar panel, pointed properly. Signal is the one people discover afterwards. A camera at the bottom of a garden is often two walls and sixty feet from the router, and a marginal link does not fail cleanly. It shows up as a camera that works in the afternoon and drops out after dark when the band gets congested.
That is why the Tapo MagCam appears first here. It is the only battery camera in this lineup on dual-band Wi-Fi, and 5 GHz is far less crowded than 2.4 GHz even though it carries less far. If your garden is short and your neighbours are many, that trade works in your favour.
The third problem is everything that moves. Foliage in wind, cats, foxes, rain catching an infrared beam. A garden camera without tight activity zones and animal-aware detection will send so many alerts that you will mute it inside a week, and a muted camera is no camera. Set the zones on day one, exclude the hedge line, and accept that the camera will still find a way to be triggered by a moth at 3am.
