The best security cameras to use as a baby monitor
Treat this as a connected device in a child's room first and a camera second.

What actually matters here
Several cameras here are explicitly sold as baby monitors, with cry detection listed alongside person and motion and no fee attached. The hardware question is largely settled: pan and tilt, 2K or better, a card slot, and audio.
The question worth more of your attention is the account. A camera in a nursery is the single most sensitive device in a house, and the failure mode is not the camera breaking. It is someone reaching the feed. Use a password that exists nowhere else, turn on two-factor authentication, keep recordings on the card rather than the cloud where the model allows it, and check what the app shares by default.
Placement has a physical safety dimension that does not apply to any other camera on this site. The cable is the hazard. Mount the camera far enough from the cot that no cord can be reached from inside it, and do not clamp a camera to the cot rail.
Cry detection is useful and is not a medical device. No camera on this page monitors breathing, and nothing here should be treated as a safety system for an infant.
