Is the eufy Floodlight Cam E340 worth it?

Drawn for this site. Not a product photo.

Most cameras force a choice between a wide view and useful detail at distance. This one carries two lenses and does both, with the telephoto reaching about 50 feet while the wide-angle holds the whole scene.

It pans a full 360 degrees and AI tracks people as they move through the frame, and because it is hardwired it records continuously rather than waking on motion. The HomeBase S380 in the box handles storage locally.

The review count was still low when we checked, so the rating shows an early pattern rather than a track record. The eufy cloud reporting from 2023 is also worth reading before committing, and is covered on the eufy brand page.

Storage is the thing to plan for

Two lenses do two jobs here: a 3K wide view of the whole approach and a telephoto that the listing says reaches about 50 feet, with the head panning through 360 degrees. Recording runs 24/7 to the HomeBase S380 in the box, which is what makes it a no-plan product.

The HomeBase has 16 GB built in and, per the listing, expands to 16 TB. Continuous recording fills 16 GB very quickly, so if 24/7 history is why you are buying this, budget for a drive in the HomeBase from the start. As with any floodlight, the fixture replaces a mains light, and the switch feeding it has to stay on.

What it costs to keep running

Plan fees for the eufy Floodlight Cam E340 over five years: $0, because it keeps its own footage; the storage is in the base station that comes in the box.

The eufy Floodlight Cam E340 base station holds 16 GB. At 3K, with about 40 minutes of clips a day, that is about 18 days of history; recording around the clock it is well under a day, so plan on adding a drive if 24/7 history is the point. The listing's own retention figure assumes fewer triggers than that.

Different card or recording mode? The storage calculator uses the same assumptions.
